EVM Roadmap to Project Success (or, are we there yet?)
Whether you are studying for the PMP exam or managing a multi-million dollar project, Earned Value Management (EVM) is on the required reading list. The project schedule baseline provides the roadmap to successful project completion. EVM tools and techniques enable project managers to forecast future project performance. This “early warning system” can help project managers plan ahead to avoid potential delays and cost overruns. The presentation will cover: creating a manageable baseline; EVM calculations; EVM reporting, and how to interpret cost and schedule performance indicators to keep the project on course. Find out how you can apply these techniques in your projects.
Steve Margolis, PMP, is a Senior Project Manager with Perpetual Technologies, Inc. currently supporting the Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) in the replacement of legacy financial management systems. Steve has extensive experience in supporting and consulting on government IT projects, including EVM reporting, Enterprise Architecture, and project portfolio management. He provided project management consultation and training for an Enterprise Project Management System for strategic projects within the Pentagon’s Directorate of Administration and Management. He was previously a co-founder and COO for Boundless Flight, a software development and consulting firm. He has BSE and an MSE in Computer Science, and an MBA.
