President's Message - October, 2015
Our Fall Program line-up is well underway thanks to a very successful Professional Day, a breakfast roundtable focused on Procurement, CSM and CSPO training classes, and a controversial disussion about the value of estimating at this past week’s dinner meeting presented by Dhaval Panchal of Agile42. We also are midway through our PMP Prep class sessions.
Phew! Hold onto your hats folks because there is a lot more to come this next 2 months!
Next up is our Networking event at Big Ditch Brewery on November 4th, then a Program/Portfolio topic at our dinner meeting at Chef’s on November 17th. In between these events on the 12th is another breakfast roundtable to discuss the “Power of Acknowledgement” – your thoughts and experience with it.
And to end our season we’re providing a PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Professional) Prep class on December 4th-5th and our last breakfast roundtable on the 17th will discuss retirement and other work alternatives.
Like many organizations, PMI Buffalo is in the midst of its Operational Planning. Your Board and Directors are developing their tactical plans to support the following:
- Our 3 Strategic objectives: Engage and Recruit Members & Volunteers, Deliver and Promote Stakeholder Value, Ensure the Chapter’s Sustainabiity
- Core activities such as providing our various programs and services
- Discretionary activities such as Outreach to our local universities and other professional organizations
There are always plenty of opportunities for you to volunteer and earn a few PDUs. Please check out our website – About Us\Volunteer Postings. 1 hour of volunteer work = 1 PDU!
Once again, we continue to highlight PMI’s changes to its Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program in our emails. We also have an article on our website’s home page. Please familiarize yourselves with this new categorization of knowledge, and PDUs, so that you are ready for the upcoming changes. As of December 1st, we will be designating our events as aligning to one of the three Talent Triangle skill sets: Technical, Leadership, or Strategic & Business expertise.
We hope to see you at some of the events mentioned above.
