President's Message - September, 2016
Welcome back from the PMI Buffalo Chapter’s summer break in programs. We have a full line-up for September – December. This Fall’s events will provide you with the opportunity to earn PDUs on all 3 sides of the Talent Triangle: Technical, Leadership, Strategy & Business Management. We also have a fun networking event planned for October 27th that will focus on how to better leverage LinkedIn and develop your personal brand. Take a look at our Fall Program of Events and sign up now for any or all! Click here to download the Fall Program of Events
As a follow-up to my last message, your PMI Buffalo Chapter Board spent the day together on a Saturday last month to perform Annual Planning. We discussed our stakeholders, the results from both our Chapter and PMI Global’s annual surveys, SWOC (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges), strategic issues and key strategies. We also reaffirmed our three key strategies:
- Attract and Engage Members & Volunteers
- Deliver and Promote Stakeholder Value
- Ensure the Sustainabaility of our Chapter
Each functional area of your Board will now work on developing its 2017 Operations Plan and Budget, to support these key strategies. Our plan for 2017 is to put more focus on local employers to ensure they understand the value we (and you!) bring today and can bring in the future.
Several members of the Board will be attending the PMI North America Leadership Institute Meeting (LIM) in San Diego this month. As mentioned in prior years, this is our opportunity to network with and learn from other chapter leaders from around the world. We always pick up new ideas for our programs and services as we attend 3 days of educational sessions.
Also at this North America LIM, we will be attending an awards ceremony because we were selected as a finalist for “Chapter of the Year” in our size chapter category. We are very honored to have been nominated. We did win this award back in 2011, and are ready to accept it again, if we should be so fortunate! Wish us luck!
As always, if you should have any questions, concerns or issues related to your PMI membership or the PMI Buffalo Chapter, please see our “Contact Us” page on our website, or feel free to reach out directly to me at president@pmibuffalo.org.
I hope to see you at our Fall events,
JoAnn
