Project Design/Design Projects
Recently requested as a topic, think about that this means to you in your Project Management work. Do you have a good process by which your projects are designed, or could they use some help? How has project design changed with the advent of newer methodologies (e.g., Agile vs. waterfall)? If you are using mixed methodologies, how does that impact the design of your project(s)? How involved is your customer in the design of projects for their benefit?
Are you part of a PMO, or a Project governance or portfolio group? How does project design impact you? What are your challenges and where would you like to see improvement, and what are the great things about the project design work that you see? Are there some takeaways about project design that can be shared/recommended?
Conversely, there are also design projects – is this where you experience challenges and successes? What are they? Have you ever been involved in a project to design a project? How did that work?
Should we be paying more attention to project design? What aspects?
During this meeting, we will discuss our collective experience and challenges on this topic, as well as available suggestions and information on the way that our industry should be approaching these and other questions.
