Project Management Institute Honors the Buffalo, New York Chapter with the 2011 PMI Community Advancement through Project Management Award for their innovative Project Management for Non-Profits (PM4NP) program.
The award, the second one received by PMI Buffalo, was presented during PMI’s annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 22 October 2011 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center.
The PMI Community Advancement through Project Management Award recognizes and honors a particularly significant achievement or sustained performance, in the category of organization, that improves the well-being of a community by completing a project or multiple projects, or by applying project management principles to the pro bono delivery of goods and services.
The PMI Buffalo PM4NP program provides project management training, mentoring and tools at no cost to Western New York nonprofit organizations. In its two years of existence, the program has provided a project management skill set to 38 individuals from 32 community nonprofits and is being used as a model for similar programs nationwide. Please join us in congratulating Karen Rybak, VP of Outreach, along with all the volunteers who have made this program the success it is. Thank you also to the United Way, who worked in collaboration with Karen and with her team in the creation of this ground-breaking program. Please also consider volunteering some of your time to this rewarding program so we can continue to be a leader in community advancement.
